Columbia/Barnard Hillel Kraft Center and Columbia University Dorms

If you are staying in the Columbia University Dorms, your first stop is the Conference Service Desk at Carman Hall. The Columbia University Campus stretches from 111th to 120th, between Broadway and Morningside Park. Carman Hall at Columbia University is at the corner of 114th St and Broadway. Check in time is 3pm, but rooms may be available earlier and luggage storage is provided. To get to Carman Hall, enter the campus from Broadway at 115th. Lerner Hall will be on your right. Walk to the end of the building, take a right, pass the entrance for Lerner and the next entrance on the right will be Carman Hall. Tell the security guard you need to register for your room. They will send you to the Carman library reception area. It is open from 8am to 10pm. The service desk phone number is 212-854-0365. After hours the “on call” phone number is posted on the library door.

To get to the Conference at the Hillel center, retrace your steps to Broadway and 115th. Cross Broadway and walk less than 100 feet. The Columbia/Barnard Hillel Kraft Center is located at 606 W. 115th St. (just West of Broadway on the South side of the street). The building phone number is 212-854-5111. At the Hillel… You must wear your conference name tag inside the building.

The Hillel has 6 upper floors and two lower levels, a wide staircase and a small elevator. If you are able, please use the stairs. Bathrooms are located on the 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th floors and on lower level 2. Please do not bring food into the building. Conference food should only be eaten in Rennert  (lower level 1), the 2nd and 5th floors.

Floor by floor…

Entrance Lobby – Security and Conference Registration

Lower Level: Rennert Hall and lobby area - Breakfast and lunch, as well as drinks and snacks are located in the Rennert lobby. Plenary sessions, some demonstrations and workshops will be in Rennert Hall.

2nd floor: Sulzberger Lounge and Bishop Library - The Lounge has comfortable seating, bulletin boards for notices, tables for handouts and book sales. There are 3 computers with free internet connections and a large-screen TV to show videos and DVD’s. The Bishop Library is available for quiet study or small gatherings.

3rd floor: Offices and outdoor Terrace - Sun yourself or get a breath of fresh air, but sorry, no food on the terrace.

4th floor: Kazis Beit Midrash and Multi-Use Rooms - We will use the 4 small classrooms on this floor.

5th floor: Auditorium

6th floor: Board room - a sunny, medium-sized multi-purpose room with its own bathroom.
