Carman Hall named for a former Dean of Columbia College, is a 13 story modern high rise residence.  Each room is set up with two twin beds and is connected to a private or semi-private bathroom. Fully renovated in 2001, it has central air conditioning in every room, new windows and tile flooring, a large main lounge on the lower level with a kitchen, a new laundry room complete with pay washers and dryers, and a large screen television audio/video screening room.  Vending services and open access internet terminals can be found on the first floor. A fully equipped laundry room is on the lower level, and the machines take quarters.  Each individual floor has a small cable TV lounge area. Most rooms are part of a two bedroom suite, but some individual rooms are available. Linen is exchanged weekly. Click here for a detailed description of Carman Hall with rates and floor plans.

Furnald Hall, flanking Alfred Lerner Hall just to the north, was built in 1913 and is named for a CC alum. It underwent a complete renovation in 1996.  Furnald is a traditional corridor style residence hall and is fully carpeted, has central air conditioning in every room, a large lounge with color cable TV and kitchen on every floor for relaxation and conversation, as well as a large (non-working) fireplace lounge on the first floor. Floors 3 - 10 have two separate large bathrooms on the hallway, each designated for men and women. You may click here to see a sample floor plan of Furnald Hall. You may click here to take a virtual tour of Furnald Hall. We have recently added open access internet terminals in the first floor main lounge for use by our summer conference guests who do not bring their own computers. If you do bring your own laptop or desktop computer, you may enjoy fully supported 10/100 high speed ethernet connections in your bedroom, which will give you internet access from the comfort of your room. Floors 1 - 2 are set up as smaller intimate suites, with one bathroom per suite.
